MANILA — The southwest monsoon, locally known as Habagat, has intensified once again, bringing thick cloud cover, heavy rains, and thunderstorms across parts of Luzon.
Weather monitoring reports showed that the Ilocos Region, Cordillera, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, and Pampanga are already experiencing adverse weather conditions. Heavy rainfall may also affect Metro Manila and nearby areas in the coming hours.
The state weather bureau said the monsoon could further strengthen due to a developing weather disturbance within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), potentially expanding rain-affected areas in the next few days.
Authorities warned residents in low-lying and mountainous communities to remain vigilant against flash floods and landslides and to closely monitor official weather advisories. #
