MANILA, Philippines β Ombudsman Jesus Crispin βBoyingβ Remulla said the Senate should consider establishing its own mental health clinic amid mounting pressures on lawmakers.
Remulla made the remark during a radio program, citing the strain brought by the ongoing impeachment trial, Senate sessions, and the upcoming budget hearings.
βPerhaps the Senate needs a mental health clinic,β he said, noting the heavy workload faced by senators.
Senator JV Ejercito, who was among the programβs co-hosts, responded in agreement, saying there are many who would benefit from such support.
Remulla also pointed to a broader mental health crisis in the country, saying there is still no comprehensive national program in place.
He added that while Cavite has established a mental hospital, it remains challenging to operate. #
