MANILA, PHILIPPINES β A Japanese company is expanding its operations in the Philippines, while a foreign food manufacturer is preparing to build a 12-hectare facility at Aboitiz Economic Estatesβ TARI Estate in Tarlac.
Aboitiz Economic Estates president and CEO Rafael de Mesa said about 50 percent of the estateβs new locators each year come from its existing Philippine business network, including companies already operating in the country that are expanding their facilities.
The foreign food company is expected to start construction in early 2027, once the necessary processes are completed.
TARI Estateβs initial locators are mostly from the food and beverage sector, but the next phase is expected to attract a broader mix of industries, including electronics and semiconductor companies similar to those operating at LIMA Estate.
De Mesa said opportunities arising from the Luzon Economic Corridor and Pax Silica initiatives could further increase demand for industrial facilities. He noted that the country must also ensure sufficient utilities, infrastructure and skilled workers to support new projects.
Aboitiz, PEZA expand EaseBiz program
Meanwhile, Aboitiz Economic Estates and the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) signed a memorandum of understanding to expand the EaseBiz program, which helps companies navigate PEZA registration and establish operations in economic zones.
Since its launch in 2022, the program has assisted more than two dozen PEZA registration cases, including six investors supported after the model was formalized in 2025.
The next phase will integrate locator support with PEZAβs The One Portal System.
PEZA Director General Tereso Panga said 80 percent of the agencyβs permitting processes are already automated, with full automation targeted by 2027.
The move is expected to make transactions more paperless and cashless and help turn investments into new projects, jobs and export opportunities.
