MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered the immediate release of assistance, benefits, and insurance claims to the families of two Filipino seafarers who were killed in an incident in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Claire Castro, the President also extended his condolences to the victims’ families from Laguna and Cebu.
The Department of Migrant Workers, led by Hans Leo Cacdac, reported that the fatalities were among 16 Filipino crew members aboard an oil tanker attacked on August 31.
The remaining 14 crew members were safely rescued, while the government continues to coordinate their repatriation and provide support to the affected families.
