GENERAL SANTOS ÇITY — In response to the devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake that hit Mindanao last Monday morning, companies affiliated with the Philippines’ Razon Group have swiftly dispatched “much-needed” aid to affected communities, offering crucial assistance as recovery initiatives gain momentum.

According to a report shared by a non-governmental organization, which describes itself as “Powering Mindanao” on its Facebook page, it said that the relief operations were led by Primelectric, ICTSI, and Manila Water — which spearheaded the distribution of cash assistance and essential supplies to local governments in Sarangani, South Cotabato, and General Santos City.

Drawing from various reports, Powering Mindanao indicated that said assistance aims to bolster local governments and the residents impacted by the powerful seismic event, supporting their ongoing recovery and rehabilitation work in the earthquake’s aftermath.

Immediate deliveries included fuel to power generator sets for restoring critical services, alongside bottled water, rice, canned goods, and other staples for displaced families.

In response to urgent hydration requirements, Manila Water deployed a Mobile Water Treatment Plant, while Primelectric contributed solar lamps and industrial fans to enhance living conditions at evacuation centers.

Powering Mindanao said the support from the Razon group of companies arrives as humanitarian organizations and local government agencies collaborate to meet the escalating needs throughout the earthquake-affected region, which experienced one of the most significant seismic events in recent history.

Local officials have reportedly expressed gratitude for the private sector’s assistance, noting that it will augment governmental resources and ensure that aid is efficiently distributed to communities most in need.

The initiative underscores how Philippine businesses are stepping up to complement state-led disaster response, delivering swift, coordinated action at a time of acute crisis.

As recovery work continues, authorities are focused on restoring essential services, supporting displaced households, and beginning the long process of rebuilding infrastructure destroyed by the quake. (RHB)
