MANILA, Philippines —- Malacañang has declared November 16 to 18, 2026 as special non-working days across the National Capital Region (NCR) in line with the Philippines’ hosting of the 49th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit.
Under Proclamation No. 1447, signed on September 17 by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, the move aims to ease traffic congestion in Metro Manila and allow authorities to ensure the safety and security of visiting heads of state, delegates, and diplomatic participants.
The proclamation stated that suspending work on these dates would help facilitate coordination among law enforcement and protocol officers, ensuring the smooth conduct of the regional summit.
Leaders from ASEAN member states, along with representatives from the international community, are expected to attend a series of meetings and discussions to be held in Metro Manila.
