MANILA, Philippines — Several schools across the country have begun implementing mandatory use of transparent or clear bags as part of heightened security measures aimed at protecting students and school personnel.
In General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite, Mayor Ed Custodio is pushing for the distribution of transparent bags to around 27,000 students from Grade 2 to Senior High School in public schools. The initiative seeks to speed up bag inspections and improve overall campus safety.
Meanwhile, in Tacloban City, more than 1,600 students have already received transparent backpacks following a deadly school shooting incident in June. The move is part of strengthened efforts to prevent similar attacks.
Authorities said the use of clear bags allows security personnel to easily check the contents of students’ belongings, reducing inspection time and minimizing the risk of dangerous items being brought inside school premises. (Facebook)
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has also expressed support for stricter security protocols, including mandatory bag inspections in schools nationwide.
