MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is intensifying its consultations with Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) as part of preparations for the Philippine Decade Plan on Disability 2027–2036.
According to DSWD Assistant Secretary and spokesperson Irene Dumlao, the initiative aims to identify barriers in accessing social services and gather firsthand experiences of persons with disabilities to help make government programs more inclusive and effective.
The consultations are being conducted nationwide through regional clusters. Cluster 2 covers Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and Bicol; Cluster 3 covers the Visayas regions; Cluster 4 includes Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Davao; while Cluster 5 covers SOCCSKSARGEN, Caraga, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
Earlier regional consultations have already been held in the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, and the Cordillera Administrative Region as part of the initial phase of the 10-year national disability framework. #
