MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), in coordination with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), closed down a recruitment agency in Cubao, Quezon City for allegedly collecting illegal placement fees and recruiting workers for jobs abroad without a license.
During an entrapment operation, the agency reportedly asked for over ₱300,000 in fees for jobs in Greece and up to ₱35,000 for jobs in Hong Kong. Three individuals were caught but denied the allegations.
Authorities also found a service agreement linking the agency to a medical facility, raising concerns over additional charges for pre-employment certificates.
The DMW said it is reaching out to workers possibly deployed to Greece, Hong Kong, and Qatar, and will assist them in fixing documents and filing complaints. This marks the thir agency closed this year, on top of 32 illegal recruiters shut down in 2025.
