MANILA – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will meet with top construction companies, including EEI Corp. and D.M. Consunji, Inc. (DMCI), for the planned ₱16-billion rehabilitation of the Maharlika Highway.
Public Works Secretary Vivencio B. Dizon said the agency will prioritize major firms to ensure quality and timely completion, moving away from smaller contractors linked to past corruption scandals.
“The highest priority is Daang Maharlika… We believe that if we do it right, hopefully by the end of 2027 a large portion of Maharlika, from Northern Luzon to Mindanao, will be fixed,” Dizon said.
The Maharlika Highway, also known as the Pan-Philippine Highway, connects northern Luzon to the Zamboanga Peninsula, with ferry links between Bicol, Samar, Leyte, and Surigao. #END
