MANILA — March 17, 2026: Actor Donny Pangilinan is earning praise online after suggesting a ₱3-per-liter diesel price reduction at his family-owned gas station, a move aimed at helping motorists cope with rising fuel costs.

The initiative was revealed by his father, Anthony Pangilinan, in a social media post, where he shared that their business had been assessing the impact of increasing fuel prices on operations and the community.

According to Anthony, it was Donny—who is also his business partner—who proposed the discount despite its potential impact on profits.

“Our partner (yes, my son!) suggested a move that didn’t make sense numbers-wise but was fully aligned with our mission to support those who need it most,” Anthony wrote.

Following the proposal, the family implemented the ₱3.00 per liter discount  on diesel at their South Forbes gas station, effective March 17.

Public Reaction

The initiative quickly gained traction online, with netizens commending Donny for prioritizing consumers during a period of continuous fuel price hikes. Many praised the father-and-son tandem, noting that their decision reflects how businesses can extend compassion and social responsibility even in challenging economic times.

Broader Context

Fuel prices in the Philippines have been steadily rising in recent months, driven by global demand and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. The increase has placed additional strain on motorists and commuters, prompting calls for relief measures across the transport sector.

Against this backdrop, the Pangilinan family’s decision has been seen as a symbolic gesture of empathy and community support, showing how private businesses can play a role in easing everyday burdens.  #RBM
