NEWS UPDATE: MANILA — Senate President Pro Tempore Sherwin Gatchalian announced on Thursday that invited resource persons would not be allowed to participate in the scheduled hearing of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, citing a change in the committee’s leadership.
During a press conference, Gatchalian asserted that Erwin Tulfo is now the chairman of the Blue Ribbon Committee, effectively rendering the hearing previously scheduled for the day canceled.
According to Gatchalian, the committee’s reorganization means that invitations issued under the previous leadership are no longer in effect. As a result, resource persons who had been invited to attend the hearing would not be admitted.
The development comes amid ongoing changes in Senate committee assignments following the chamber’s recent leadership restructuring. The issue has raised questions regarding the validity of scheduled hearings and the authority of committee officials during the transition period.
