MANILA, Philippines — The government will continue and expand its free rice distribution program for low-income families, Executive Secretary Ralph Recto said, in line with the directive of Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to ensure no Filipino goes hungry.
During a visit to Cebu, around 120,000 families received rice assistance under the Bagong Pilipinas Rice Program (BPRP), which targets nearly 8 million households nationwide with 10 kilos of rice every two months.
“Hindi ito one-time, big-time. Kada dalawang buwan ang bigayan… walang pamilyang Pilipino ang dapat magutom,” ani Recto.
Bukod sa pagtulong sa mga pamilya, sinabi rin ni Recto na makikinabang ang mga lokal na magsasaka dahil sa pagbili ng gobyerno ng kanilang ani, kasabay ng pondong higit ₱57.87 bilyon mula sa Local Government Support Fund. #
