MANILA, Philippines — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has proposed a reorganization that would merge Region IV-A (CALABARZON) and Region IV-B (MIMAROPA) into a unified Region 4, with Cavite and Palawan grouped under a sub-regional arrangement.
Under the proposal, the restructuring aims to improve coordination and streamline the delivery of government services across provinces.
The suggested sub-regional groupings include:
- Cavite – Palawan
- Batangas – Oriental Mindoro and Occidental Mindoro
- Laguna – Rizal
- Quezon – Marinduque – Romblon
Despite the consolidation, separate sub-regional command centers will be maintained to ensure faster coordination and response.
The DILG is expected to present the proposal to the Senate within the year for review and deliberation.
