The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Tuesday released the official mugshot of former House Speaker and Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin Romualdez following his arrest in a plunder case.
The photo, shown during a press briefing at Camp Crame, depicts Romualdez inside a hospital bed at Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City, wearing a medical gown and attached to medical devices.
Authorities said Romualdez was arrested Monday night after the Sandiganbayan Third Division issued an arrest order against him.
He faces plunder charges linked to alleged ₱7 billion in kickbacks from government infrastructure projects between 2022 and 2025.
The PNP-CIDG said standard detainee procedures were not followed due to his medical condition and hospital confinement.
The case remains under investigation pending further legal proceedings.
